Dr. Hassan Jimale serves as the head of the vector control management and research Division at the School of Public Health Somali National University and Vector control focal Point in South Central Zone FG Somalia.

Dr. Jimale received his B.S. degree in Biology Major/Minor Chemistry from the Somali National University (Lafole), M.Sc. degree in Medical Entomology and Vector Control from Blue-Nile institute of Communicable disease Gezira University – Sudan, in addition to M.Sc. degree in Medical Physiology from the Ondokoz Mayas University – Samsun-Turkey.

Dr. Jimale had 8 years of Vector Control experience in National Malaria Control Program of the FG prior to joining the School of Public Health under SNU administration and worked as an Entomologist and Mosquito Control Surveyor for a number of governmental departments, and other international organizations such as Qadar Red Crescent and Muslim League Relief Organization in Benadir Hospital in 2012. At the present, apart from his teaching profession,  he acts in three various roles as an entomologist, SCZ focal point and Malaria Vector Control surveyor for the current Ministry of Health. He is also ready to give technical advice to anyone who wants to know something about the Vector Control Programs including Vector Control Studies, Mosquito Surveillance Activities, and intervention strategies for Malaria Vector Control and especially Vector Borne Diseases.

Dr.Jimale has also remarkable footprint on the research and the development of vector control field,   and his interest research area includes:

  • Schistosomiases control in Somalia.
  • Leshmania  Vector control in Somalia
  • Biological control tools against vector mosquitoes.
  • Insecticide Resistance Management (IPM).
  • Effect of pesticide contamination in aquatic environment
