    Graduate diploma in Research and Biostatistics

    Background information:

    The graduate diploma in Research and Biostatistics is one year (Three semester) for medical and allied health professionals who wants to build career in Research and Biostatistics. The program will provide skills for planning and conducting strong and reliable health research and assist you to understand the mathematical background, theory and application of biostatistics in health and medical research, also developing your skills in performing complex statistical analyses using different kinds of software (SPSS, EPI-INFO, STATA, R-program, Minitab and NVivo).

    Program objectives:

    On completion of the Graduate Diploma, graduates will have attained the required skills for employment as a Researcher and biostatistician. This course allows graduates to:

    1. Gain the skills you need to plan and implement a health research program;
    2. Develop clinical practice and build a career on the frontiers of health care;
    3. Attain skills for employment as a professional biostatistician in medical and public health research centers, universities, hospitals, government departments and the pharmaceutical industry;
    4. Generate, organize and analyses the data from health programs;
    5. Handle qualitative health research using Nvivo;
    6. Develop indicators and conducting monitoring and evaluation in health programs

    Consultative Meeting on Development of National Mental health Policy
    A team of our MPH students led by the Head of Research and Training at SNU – SPHR Mr. Gallad Dahir has participtated in a consultative meeting on the development of National Mental Health Policy. Our MPH students are getting exposure to the existing public health system in order for them to be part of the journey in reviving the Somalia’s health care system.

    The Essential Package of Health Services( EPHS).

    The Essential Package of Health Services( EPHS) workshop was actively participated by doctors with public health specialization from Benadir Hospital. Understanding of EPHS by health care providers will enhance the efficiency of service delivery.

     

     

     

    The Ministry Health and Human Services of the Federal Government of Somalia in collaboration with the Somali National University-SPHR has conducted an introduction workshop on the EPHS-2020. The expansion of the EPHS-2020 is a core priority for the Minister of Health, H.E. Dr.Fawziya Abikar Nur who has paid a great effort in the revision of this valuable document. With her great leadership and vision for the Somali health sector, the minister is working to make sure that all health-related activities are aligned with the EPHS-2020 framework. And increasing the knowledge and awareness regarding this useful policy documents have the potential to facilitate the implementation of national health policies at all levels of the health system. With this in mind, the Department of Policy and Planning has today conducted this useful workshop. The workshop was attended by health professionals from different institutions ( specially Benadir Hospital) and university researchers based in Mogadishu.
